Go Payson Lions

So I am currently blogging from the Payson High School computer lab. My kids are having computer time and I find myself feeling very sentimental all of the sudden. Things are changing in my life. Soon I'll be leaving good ol' Payson High School and starting over, new class, new kids, new school. I'm sad and scared that nowhere else will be able to compare to Payson. Sure we don't have fast computers, or projectors, or soda fountains, flat screens, sound systems in our ceilings or leather couches in the faculty lounge (seriously Nebo maybe a little investigation into the division of funds is necessary), but we do have awesome faculty and staff and awesome kids. I've made some great friends and made great memories and hopefully impacted the lives of a couple of my students and parents. So here's to you Payson High School. You were good enough for Kevin Bacon and you've definitely been good enough for me!

Ode to the gym

Today we went to the gym. I lasted on the elliptical machine for about 12 minutes, did one leg press and left. Nate stayed and I went home, made a burrito and watched American Idol. Is this the reason that I look like this and Nathan looks like this...

Ha the photo is me, courtesy freshmen year. I am actually getting better at going to the gym and staying...I really just wanted to find an excuse to post the picture of Nate. Just to let you know, he is wearing shorts.

You can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?

So I created this blog a while ago, and after a few failed attempts at creating posts I put it on the back burner of things to do. I kept meaning to post but I didn't know where to start, so many things have happened in the past 7 months that we've been married (yeah crazy huh) and it made me feel very overwhelmed. So I've decided to start from the beginning of this year, 2009, a magical year so far. My run through of the events will be brief but I promise to keep the blogs and pictures coming.

January: Nathan and I rang in the New Year in Salt Lake with my mom. We had a classy dinner at Pei Wei followed by a viewing of the Celine Dion concert in HD! We made it until abut 12:10 and then went to bed. We were also able to take in a Payson High School basketball game with my students. Sadly, in Payson tradition, they lost. The most exciting thing to happen in January was the celebration of my birthday with friends and family at Macaroni Grill, followed by a surprise party that Nate put together for me. Presents, party games and an ice cream cake, everything a 9, I mean 23 year old could ask for!

Me and Nate at the Payson basket ball game, notice Nate's old school Payson gear. Kevin Bacon would be proud...
Birthday celebration at Macaroni Grill. The desert was delicious as evdidence from
Nate Hymas's teeth.
Nathan sang happy birthday to me in only a way that he can.

February: The month of love...and sickness/backpain. Our first Valentine's Day was awesome even though Nathan threw out his back and I was sick. Nathan had been telling me that he had to work on Valentine's Day but after a night of babysitting, I returned home to find him waiting for me. He had the whole day planned out, which included lunch, a movie, dinner and Color Me Mine. Let's see if he can top this one next year. Another exciting thing happened in February, Nathan got into Western States Chiropractic School in Portland, Oregon. We are both so excited to move to Portland and have already started researching restaurants we need to try. Nate's been working so hard and I'm so proud of him!

Our bowls we made at Color Me Mine. Nate opted for a very masculine color pallate of blue, yellow and purple, while I went for a more controversial black and brown. Nate was very proud of his "swirly" and though it really highlighted
his artistic abilities.

As promised I'll keep this updated from now on. I feel like it's the least I can do in exchange for all my blog stalking.
